Case Study – Oak Framed Canopy

As winter closes in, porches and canopies are fast becoming a doorstep must-have for homeowners. Porches bring a real benefit at this time of year, but they can also prove to be the perfect asset for a home’s overall aesthetic appearance.

The initial enquiry for this project was simple;

“I have a concrete lintel above our entrance door acting as a shelter and I was wondering how we can remove and replace with an oak frame canopy’’

This is a common enquiry for us but removing the lintel could have structural implications as they are set back into the main brickwork. We suggested to the client building around it, not only building an oak frame canopy to wrap around the lintel we also cladded the underside to complete the oak feel.

Being the main exterior element to a building’s frontage, a porch is constantly subject to the forces of nature meaning the material’s longevity and durability is key. With an Oak Porch from Nationwide Home & Leisure, we are creating a timeless addition to your property, with many advantages. Unlike most other materials, Oak ages beautifully, over time it will morph into a stunning silver patina. As the material dries out and the Oak loses its moisture you are left with an exceptionally strong and stable structure.

Everything we create here at Nationwide Home & Leisure is bespoke to the customer from size and elevation detail through to roof pitch and finally onto beam style. With your input and our expertise together we can create your dream porch.
